This policy explains how Aussiely Pty Ltd ("Aussiely", "we", "us") collects and handles personal information through our website (aussiely.com.au) and JoeyDrive ("app"). JoeyDrive enables driving instructors to manage their schedule and students, and learners to book driving lessons. We operate in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
We may collect the following when you use our website or app: your name, email address, and phone number; your role on the platform (instructor or learner); your driver licence number for identity and eligibility verification; booking details including lesson dates, times, duration, and pickup or drop-off locations; lesson notes and cancellation history; usage data such as features used and crash reports; device type, OS version, and app version; and location data only if the app explicitly requests it and you grant permission via your device settings.
How we use it
We use your information to operate the booking and scheduling platform, send lesson confirmations and reminders, reply to enquiries, improve the service, diagnose technical issues, and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.
Third-party service providers
We use trusted third-party providers to operate our services, including AWS for cloud hosting and analytics tools for aggregate usage monitoring. These providers access personal information only to perform services on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations. We do not authorise them to use your data for their own purposes.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses a small number of cookies to keep it functioning and to understand aggregate usage. The app may use equivalent device-level analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. In-app analytics can be adjusted via your device privacy settings (for example, "Allow Apps to Request to Track" on iOS).
Storage and security
Personal information is stored on AWS infrastructure in Australia (Sydney and Melbourne regions), with access restricted to authorised personnel. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, and we cannot accept responsibility for unauthorised access beyond our reasonable control.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as necessary to provide our service and meet legal obligations. Booking and account data is typically retained for up to three years after your last activity. You may request deletion at any time (see Your rights below) and we will action it unless we are required by law to retain it.
Age requirements
Driving lessons require learners to hold a valid learner permit. In most Australian states and territories, the minimum age to obtain a learner permit is 16 years. Our service is designed for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. To report a concern, contact us:
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. If you are in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to data portability, to restrict or object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us:
International data transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted entirely on AWS in Australia (Sydney and Melbourne). We do not routinely transfer personal information outside Australia. If any such transfer becomes necessary, we will take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protections are in place.
Updates
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be noted on this page along with the "last updated" date above.
